Steve Rosen has been documenting Jeff Beck for more than half a century. He first interviewed Jeff in 1973 and spoke with him repeatedly over the years, building a firsthand archive that few writers can match.
In 1978 Rosen wrote The Beck Book, the first biography of Jeff Beck, published only in Japan. He always wanted to return to the story. Now he has.
The Original Punk revisits and greatly expands that history, taking the story from Jeff's early pre-Yardbirds days through the era of Guitar Shop. The book draws on Rosen's own conversations with Jeff and interviews with musicians, friends and collaborators from throughout Jeff's career.
Rosen's interviews include the people who helped make the history: Jimmy Page, Jim McCarty, Ronnie Wood, Nicky Hopkins and many others. The result is not simply a retrospective biography. It is a collection built around conversations Rosen actually had while the story was unfolding.
The first-edition hardback is 356 pages and includes a 32-page color and black-and-white photo section with rare material reaching back to 1969.
Steve notes that the book can also be ordered through major local bookstores in many countries. Ask for The Original Punk by Steve Rosen.
